The History of the Eye

October 25 to November 29, 2025

The History of the Eye

The History of the Eye, it’s the title of the new exhibition by Mariano Sardón and Mariano Sigman. It presents their consolidated artistic-scientific research on vision, perception and the processes through which the brain constructs the images we believe we see. Like a laboratory of the gaze, the exhibition brings together paintings, drawings, videos and sculptures in which lines, pulses and shapes function as translators of the imperceptible movements of the eye and reveal the intimate connection between seeing and thinking. The eye—a sensitive and symbolic organ—has always been considered a metaphor for knowledge, an instrument of the gaze and a frontier between the visible and the invisible. For Sardón and Sigman, art and science are paths of experimentation that explore memory, perception, and the mechanisms that shape our reality.

Both territories are intertwined under the imprint of an automatic writing of the gaze, inviting us to understand the act of seeing, to question the apparent transparency of vision, and to recognise the complexity of what we look at and how we look at it.

OPENING: Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 12:00 to 7:00 PM
